Residents in Ekiti State have staged a protest against President,  Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress.
Yesterday, June 27th, the residents turned out enmass with inscribed placards saying, ‘Nigerians are suffering under Buhari/APC government’, ‘Buhari govt and men corrupt more than any other’ amongst others.
Thousands of youths, especially students of tertiary institutions in the state, took to the streets in a Concord protest in total support of the administration of Governor Ayodele Fayose.
They were led by Obayemi Peters; the president of the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union (FESSU), presidents of Students Union Governments of the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti; Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti; College of Education, Ikere Ekiti and College of Health Technology, Ijero-Ekiti, Ibrahim Oladimeji, Ayegbusi Paul, Onilearo Gbenga and Oyebade Adeyemi respectively.
They condemned what they described as the APC-led federal government’s atrocity, obvious disrespect for rule of law and disobedience to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Some are implying that the protest was stage-managed by Governor Fayose.
On Friday, June 24, protesters, who were led by a union of society groups, took to the street to express their disappointment with Governor Fayose’s inability to pay workers salary for several months. There have been reports that Ekiti state civil servants are being owed five months salaries. The governor has been in the news for the very wrong reasons in the past few days, from his account being frozen by EFCC, to allegations of corruption against the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, and to the controversy trailing the source of his election funding.
However, the Ekiti state National Assembly council has told the EFCC and federal government to stop terrorizing Fayose. See more photos below…
