Lagos state is set to celebrate 50 years since it was created in 1967. The governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode has therefore set up a committee to prepare ahead as the city gets set to celebrate its golden jubilee in grand style.
Heading the committee is renowned playwright and Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka who has been named as chairman of the 10-man committee.
Soyinka will be supported by Rasheed Gbadamosi who has also been named co-chairman of the committee which also has ‘93 Days’ producer and CEO of Terra Kulture, Bolanle Austen-Peters and Sara Boulos, who is the founder of the Society for The Performing Arts in Nigeria, as a members.
Other members of the committee are Habeeb Fasinro, Olawale Cole, Abimbola Obafunwa, Senapon Bakare, Chika Balogun, Folarin Coker, Ademola Abass and Olufunmilayo Balogun who is the Secretary.
The committee was inaugurated today and has been tasked with the duty of ensuring that a befitting anniversary is held for Lagos.
