Nigeria’s impressive run at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile continued this morning as they whipped South American side, Mexico 4-2 to qualify to move on to the final.
Nigeria’s two goals in each halves was enough to see the team to victory despite conceding a goal as early as the 7th minute. Kelechi Nwakali equalized in the 35th minute with Orji Okonkwo doubling it 8 minute later with a well-taken free kick. The Mexicans leveled up at the return of the second half via a fantastic strike by D. Cortes but this was short lived as Osinachi Ebere made it number 3 for Nigeria barely 8 minutes later.
Nigeria’s wonder boy, Victor Osimhen sealed the win in the 83rd minute after slotting home a penalty kick to make it 4-2 while recording his 9th goal at the ongoing world cup. Nigeria has now qualified for her 8th final in 11 appearances.
