Black Diamond as Wande Coal is fondly
referred to by fans, has finally released his sophomore album, Wanted,
after a six-year hiatus. In a chat with Saturday Beats, the singer
explained that one of the reasons he took a break from the music scene
was to spend time with his seven-year-old son.
“I am a single father with a
seven-year-old son. He is part of the reasons I had to put my music
career on hold so that I could spend some time with him and get to know
him. You should know that I am happy and I love my son because he is
smart,” he said.
The singer hinted that the possibility of getting married to his baby mama is very slim as he wants to face his career squarely.
Ever since he was away from the music scene, a lot had been said about him and many people believed his career is already dead.
But with his much anticipated album in the market, the singer said he is happy about his album’s success.
He also said the remarks that his career was dead were his major source of inspiration.
“Nothing good comes easy but you have to
keep working. You know there was a time people said maybe my career had
died; all these things motivated me. I like good criticism. Some of my
friends are hypocrites. They say things the way they are and that is
what I like. It’s not easy to cope with them,” he said.
