Veteran
actor, Kareem Adepoju, popularly called Baba Wande, has urged the
Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to deliver
his current assignment the way he did when he was the governor of Lagos
State.
According to the actor, Fashola demonstrated the kind of determination and commitment that many politicians lack in Nigeria.
In a
statement on Tuesday, Wande said Fashola not only excelled on economic
and political fronts, his administration also paid attention to
socio-cultural development of the state.
He noted
that Fashola’s leadership left a legacy by building Freedom Park, in
Lagos, which, he said, had become a centre of excellence for showcasing
music, films, plays and other cultural products.
He said, “Former Governor Fashola also supported me when we were working on and showing my latest film, Agbabiaka. I know he supported other people too, without discriminating among groups, guilds or ethnic groups.”
He,
however, added that stakeholders were happy that Fashola’s successor,
Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, had unfolded plans to invest in the art and culture
sector.
